I heard someone say it today.
I’ve said it before, but I don’t say it anymore.
My ears tickled when I heard the words being spoken this afternoon. I believe this type of motivation —–to be better than someone—-does not align with our true self.
“It’s fine: she can win that one. I’ll be the better person. I’ll call her first”
I immediately felt the urge to slide my input in the conversation; but I decided to take a breath. Evaluate and measure my potential reply.
Quick enough – I decide to hold my opinion back.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?
I feel it is true. I don’t believe it is mandatory. Plus, it’s not very kind.
As I observe my interlocutor, I notice that her share is very sensitive.
I also doubt if she’s aware of the ripple effects of her energies, of all energies.
Above all: this is not a good place or time.
Simultaneously, I cringe thinking of my own current struggle.
I’m currently dealing with the end of an important relationship. Everyday, I stumble on egoistic thoughts. These are the moments where I struggle with the concept of my worth and I confuse myself while comparing situations.
When my awareness catches this slip, I’m humbled as I try to recenter my attention on loving notions: enjoying my daily blessings, welcoming positive opportunities and forgiving the loss of what no longer serves me.
Thus, I still fell a few times in the ranking ditch:
-¨I’m better than..¨
Right. The bigger person illusion, such is a clumsy thought.
If it comes through my mind: I acknowledge it’s passing and attempt to ignore it; I would never dare to articulate the words.
I believe that as we become more conscious: it’s crystal clear that there’s no such thing as a better individual. Our intentions should always be fueled with a desire for peace, love and growth.
Our real essence does not gratify positions of stature or arrogant presumptions.
When I am faced with hurtful situations developed with individuals : I sometimes catch my thoughts waltz into vengeful scenarios or even landing on a mirage: my superior level of identity.
Damn. These thoughts are so redundant. Why do they return?
I know to nourish my true essence. My true self is aligned with love. Feeding the positives. Authentic loving objectives. Healthy relationships. Growth. Faith. Kindness. And true forgiveness.
No ranks about nothing. Ever.
When we decide to manifest anything in our lives or when we decide to let go: it should always be about love, not about being better than.
Nah.
Be your best self. Be better than who you were yesterday.
Plus, really: you are the only measure you can compare yourself too.
So let’s try that.
Next time we hear that voice in our heads, we can say this:
I will make better choices today. I am the “better me ” today.
Let’s drop that saying of: ¨being better than¨.
